Part 3/12 - Ranged General Rankings [Primary PvP]

Updated: 3 hours ago

Table of Contents

Army General Analysis - PART 3, reviewing Ranged Generals (PvP). This will also be the primary PvP army general (at least when starting out). However, around K28-30, three (3) or four (4) PvP Generals will be needed, typically one that specializes in each troop type.

Specialty Level for Rankings:

This Army General Category has been ranked by the 4-Yellow Specialty Score that is used for the "Primary Six (6)" Army Generals. See the Developing Army General Specialties in this article for more information.

The primary six (6) army generals are:

  1. Ranged General Rankings [Primary PvP]

  2. In-City Defense (Main Wall) General Rankings [PvP]

  3. Mounted Generals - Monster Killing for Pushing [PvM]

  4. Ground Generals [PvP]

  5. Siege Generals [PvP]

  6. Mounted General Rankings [PvP]

If the 4-Yellow Specialties Ranking is not realistic for this Army General Category, then see the 3-Orange Specialty Rankings and/or the 3-Orange Specialty Rankings that have been included below the primary list.

4-YELLOW SPECIALTIES RANKINGS - v3.3.2a

Ranged General [Primary PvP] Rankings (at 4-Yellow Specialties Level)

1. Princess Kaguya – A+ (100.0% - 509) – High Basic Attribute (Leadership, Attack, Defense, & Politics) scores, and very strong Ranged Buffs combine to rank her #1 and make her an excellent Ranged PvP option. She’s the best option that doesn’t require a dragon. She is also ranked #1 for Ranged PvP Assistant General. Despite the wording of her “Built-In” Skill, she CAN use the Ranged Attack Increase Skill Book.

  1. Specialist Against: Opponents that are heavy on Mounted Troops. This will probably be the case for 80-90% of opponents when starting out in battlefield (unless you’re playing all-star level opponents).

  2. Strongest Buffs (at 4-Yellow Specialties Level):

  3. Ranged Attack Increase: +85% (+116% w/ Skill Book and All Troop Attack Increase)

  4. Ranged Range Increase: +0% (+100 w/ Skill Book)

  5. Siege Range Increase: +0% (+200 w/ Skill Book)

  6. March Size Increase: +6%

  7. Siege Attack Increase: +10% (+16% w/ All Troop Attack Increase)

  8. All Troop Attack Increase: +6%

  9. Ranged Defense Increase: +55%

  10. Ranged HP Increase: +45%

  11. Dragon: Not required

  12. Acquisition: DIFFICULT, only available in the Tale of Princess Kaguya Activity. Either get lucky or buy packages until you get to 280 tries (when it's guaranteed to get her). If you've already gotten one (1) of her, unfortunately there’s not a second copy at 280 spins. I’m not sure, but she might also be available in the 5th Daily Event Packs ($100) and possibly during the King’s Scheme, Ekaterina’s Garden, King’s Party, or other pay events.

  13. Culture: Japan

  14. Introduced: June, 2022

  15. Recommended Specialty Level: 4-Yellow. However, a case can be made that Elektra is better than Princess Kaguya, because it should be easier to max out Elektra's Ascending Enhancement bonuses.

2. Simeon the Great – Grade: A+ (99.2% - 505) – Very strong Basic Attribute (Leadership, Attack, Defense, & Politics) scores, very strong Ranged Buffs, and strong secondary Siege Buffs, combine to rank him a very close #2, and make him an excellent PvP option. Needs ANY dragon to max out buffs.

  1. Specialist Against: Opponents that are heavy on Mounted Troops.

  2. Strongest Buffs (at 4-Yellow Specialties Level):

  3. Ranged Attack Increase: +90% (+121% w/ Skill Book and All Troop Attack Increase)

  4. Siege Attack Increase: +30% (+36% w/ All Troop Attack Increase)

  5. All Troop Attack Increase: +6%

  6. Ranged Range Increase: +0% (+100 w/ Skill Book)

  7. Siege Range Increase: +0% (+200 w/ Skill Book)

  8. March Size Increase: +6%

  9. Ranged Defense Increase: +45%

  10. Dragon: ANY Dragon

  11. Acquisition: DIFFICULT, only available in the 5th Daily Event Packs ($100) and possibly during the King’s Scheme, Ekaterina’s Garden, King’s Party, or other pay events.

  12. Culture: Europe

  13. Introduced: December, 2020

  14. Recommended Specialty Level: 4-Yellow, unless you also have Princess Kaguya. Although, a case can be made that Elektra is better than both of them, because it should be easier to max out Elektra's Ascending Enhancement bonuses.

3. Elektra – Grade: A+ (97.2% - 495) – High Basic Attribute (Leadership, Attack, Defense, & Politics) scores, tertiary Mounted Damage Buffs, and very strong Ranged Damage Buffs make her an excellent PvP option. Previously needed a PASTURE dragon to max out buffs, but with the K40 expansion (v4.0) released on 11-04-2021 she now can use ANY dragon.

  1. Specialist Against: Opponents that are heavy on Mounted Troops.

  2. Strongest Buffs (at 4-Yellow Specialties Level):

  3. Ranged Attack Increase: +91% (+116% w/ Skill Book)

  4. Ranged Range Increase: +0% (+100 w/ Skill Book)

  5. March Size Increase: +6% (+18% w/ Skill Book)

  6. Mounted Attack Increase: +41%

  7. Ranged HP Increase: +20%

  8. Ranged Defense Increase: +10%

  9. Siege Attack Increase: +10%

  10. Dragon: ANY Dragon

  11. Acquisition: Relatively EASY, available in the Relic Chamber Rewards (RCR) activity.

  12. Culture: Other

  13. Introduced: December, 2019

  14. Recommended Specialty Level: 4-Yellow, unless you also have Simeon the Great. Although, a case could be made that she’s better than Simeon because it will be much easier to max out her Ascending Enhancement bonuses.

4. Alfred the Great – Grade: A (92.9% - 473) – High Basic Attribute (Leadership, Attack, Defense, & Politics) scores, strong secondary Siege Damage Buffs, and strong Ranged Damage Buffs make him an excellent PvP option. He’s the 2nd strongest option that doesn’t need a dragon.

  1. Specialist Against: Opponents that are heavy on Mounted Troops.

  2. Strongest Buffs (at 4-Yellow Specialties Level):

  3. Ranged Attack Increase: +95% (+120% w/ Skill Book)

  4. Siege Attack Increase: +30%

  5. Ranged Range Increase: +0% (+100 w/ Skill Book)

  6. Siege Range Increase: +0% (+200 w/ Skill Book)

  7. March Size Increase: +6%

  8. Ranged Defense Increase: +20%

  9. Ranged HP Increase: +10%

  10. Dragon: Not required

  11. Acquisition: DIFFICULT, only available in the 5th Daily Event Packs ($100) and possibly during the King’s Scheme, Ekaterina’s Garden, King’s Party, or other pay events.

  12. Culture: Europe

  13. Introduced: Unknown (before January, 2018)

  14. Recommended Specialty Level: Probably 4-Yellow, unless you also have Princess Kaguya, Simeon the Great, and/or Elektra, otherwise, he’s an excellent candidate for the 4-Yellow Specialties Level.

5. Toyotomi Hideyori – A (91.9% - 468) – Solid Ranged Attack Buffs, strong Ranged Toughness Buffs, strong Siege Attack Buffs, and a very strong Enemy Attack Debuff all combine to make him an excellent Ranged PvP option.

  1. Specialist Against: Opponents that are heavy on Mounted Troops.

  2. Strongest Buffs (at 4-Yellow Specialties Level):

  3. Ranged Attack Increase: +50% (+75% w/ Skill Book)

  4. Ranged Range Increase: +0% (+100 w/ Skill Book)

  5. March Size Increase: +0% (+12% w/ Skill Book)

  6. Reduce Enemy All Troop Attack: +10%

  7. Siege Attack Increase: +40%

  8. Ranged HP Increase: +40%

  9. Ranged Defense Increase: +30%

  10. Dragon: Not required

  11. Acquisition: DIFFICULT, only available in the 5th Daily Event Packs ($100) and possibly during the King’s Scheme, Ekaterina’s Garden, King’s Party, or other pay events.

  12. Culture: Japan

  13. Introduced: August, 2022

  14. Recommended Specialty Level: Probably 3-Orange because very few people will play the game long enough or spend enough money to get him to 4-Yellow specialties.

6. Wallenstein – Grade: A- (90.0% - 458) – Strong Ranged Damage Buffs make him a very strong Ranged PvP option. Additionally, he's one (1) of only five (5) PvP Army Generals, and one (1) of only two (2) Ranged PvP Generals, with a "Built-In" Rally Capacity Increase Buff. However, unless you are one of the largest keeps in your alliance, and leading a lot of PvP rallies, I’m not sure that buff will prove to be very useful.

  1. Specialist Against: Opponents that are heavy on Mounted Troops.

  2. Strongest Buffs (at 4-Yellow Specialties Level):

  3. Ranged Attack Increase: +85% (+116% w/ Skill Book and All Troop Attack Increase)

  4. Siege Attack Increase: +10%

  5. All Troop Attack Increase: +6%

  6. Ranged Range Increase: +0% (+100 w/ Skill Book)

  7. March Size Increase: +0% (+12% w/ Skill Book)

  8. Rally Capacity Increase: +15%

  9. Ranged HP Increase: +10%

  10. Dragon: Not required

  11. Acquisition: DIFFICULT, only available in the 5th Daily Event Packs ($100) and possibly during the King’s Scheme, Ekaterina’s Garden, King’s Party, or other pay events.

  12. Culture: Europe

  13. Introduced: September, 2022

  14. Recommended Specialty Level: Probably 3-Orange because very few people will play the game long enough or spend enough money to get him to 4-Yellow Specialties. Although, if you have the ability to get her to 4-Yellow Specialties, he is one (1) of only two (2) generals in the rankings with “Built-In” Rally Capacity Increase, so that makes him a reasonable candidate for the 4-Yellow Specialties Level, especially if you’re a Heavy Spender and/or planning to play the game for five plus (5+) years.

7. Tomyris – Grade: A- (89.4% - 455) – Strong Ranged Damage Buffs make her a very strong Ranged PvP option. Additionally, she's one (1) of only five (5) PvP Army Generals, and one (1) of only two (2) Ranged PvP Generals, with a "Built-In" Rally Capacity Increase Buff.

  3. Ranged Attack Increase: +80% (+111% w/ Skill Book and All Troop Attack Increase)

  4. Siege Attack Increase: +10%

  5. Ranged Range Increase: +0% (+100 w/ Skill Book)

  6. March Size Increase: +0% (+12% w/ Skill Book)

  7. Rally Capacity Increase: +10%

  8. Ranged HP Increase: +45%

  9. Ranged Defense Increase: +10%

  10. Dragon: Not required

  11. Acquisition: DIFFICULT, only available in the 5th Daily Event Packs ($100) and possibly during the King’s Scheme, Ekaterina’s Garden, King’s Party, or other pay events.

  12. Culture: Other

  13. Introduced: November, 2021

  14. Recommended Specialty Level: Probably 3-Orange because very few people will play the game long enough or spend enough money to get her to 4-Yellow specialties. Although, if you have the ability to get her to 4-Yellow Specialties, she is one (1) of only two (2) generals in the rankings with “Built-In” Rally Capacity Increase, so that makes her a reasonable candidate for the 4-Yellow Specialties Level, especially if you’re a Heavy Spender and/or planning to play the game for five plus (5+) years.

8. Winfield Scott – Grade: A- (87.6% - 446) – High Basic Attribute (Leadership, Attack, Defense, & Politics) scores, secondary Siege Damage Buffs, and strong Ranged Damage Buffs make him a very strong Ranged PvP option.

  1. Specialist Against: Opponents that are heavy on Mounted Troops.

  2. Strongest Buffs (at 4-Yellow Specialties Level):

  3. Ranged Attack Increase: +75% (+111% w/ Skill Book and All Troop Attack Increase)

  4. Siege Attack Increase: +10% (+21% w/ All Troop Attack Increase)

  5. All Troop Attack Increase: +11%

  6. Ranged Range Increase: +0% (+100 w/ Skill Book)

  7. Siege Range Increase: +0% (+200 w/ Skill Book)

  8. March Size Increase: +10%

  9. Ranged Defense Increase: +10%

  10. Dragon: Not required

  11. Acquisition: Relatively EASY (at Tavern Level 27 and above). Available in the Tavern as of 01-27-2022, he's probably the BEST option in the Tavern. Also, still available in the Relic Chamber Rewards (RCR) activity.

  12. Culture: America

  13. Introduced: Unknown (before January, 2018)

  14. Recommended Specialty Level: Probably none, but if you’re a free player, he may be your best option. Although, I’d recommend waiting until you can get Elektra from the Relic Chamber Rewards, before investing large amounts of Runestones.

9. Gnarr – B+ (85.9% - 437) – Strong Ranged Damage Buffs, Siege Damage Buffs, and Mounted Damage Buffs combine to make him a strong PvP option.

  1. Specialist Against: Opponents that are heavy on Mounted Troops.

  2. Strongest Buffs (at 4-Yellow Specialties Level):

  3. Ranged Attack Increase: +80% (+111% w/ Skill Book and All Troop Attack Increase)

  4. Siege Attack Increase: +10% (+16% w/ All Troop Attack Increase)

  5. Mounted Attack Increase: +15% (+21% w/ All Troop Attack Increase)

  7. Ranged Range Increase: +0% (+100 w/ Skill Book)

  8. March Size Increase: +0% (+12% w/ Skill Book)

  9. Ranged HP Increase: +10%

  10. Ground Attack Increase: +25% (+31% w/ All Troop Attack Increase)

  11. Ground HP Increase: +10%

  12. Dragon: Not required

  13. Acquisition: Relatively EASY (at Tavern Level 27 and above), available in the Tavern as of 07-15-2022, he's probably the 2nd best option available in the Tavern.

  14. Culture: Other

  15. Introduced: November, 2021

  16. Recommended Specialty Level: None, he’s probably not worth investing Runestones because there are vastly superior choices available in the Tavern and as Relic Chamber Rewards.

NOTE: Keep in mind that ranks 9-14 are separated by only a few points, so there’s not much difference between 9th place and 14th place.

10. Thutmose III – B+ (85.7% - 436) – Secondary Siege Damage Buffs, strong Ranged Damage Buffs, and All Troop Damage Buffs combine to make him a strong Ranged PvP option.

  1. Specialist Against: Opponents that are heavy on Mounted Troops.

  2. Strongest Buffs (at 4-Yellow Specialties Level):

  3. Ranged Attack Increase: +70% (+101% w/ Skill Book and All Troop Attack Increase)

  4. Siege Attack Increase: +10% (+16% w/ All Troop Attack Increase)

  5. All Troop Attack Increase: +6%

  6. Ranged Range Increase: +0% (+100 w/ Skill Book)

  7. March Size Increase: +0% (+12% w/ Skill Book)

  8. Ranged Defense Increase: +30%

  9. Ground HP Increase: +25%

  10. Ground Defense Increase: +20%

  11. Dragon: Not required

  12. Acquisition: DIFFICULT, only available in the 5th Daily Event Packs ($100) and possibly during the King’s Scheme, Ekaterina’s Garden, King’s Party, or other pay events.

  13. Culture: Other

  14. Introduced: November, 2021

  15. Recommended Specialty Level: None, he’s not worth investing Runestones because there are vastly superior choices available in the Tavern and as Relic Chamber Rewards.

NOTE: Keep in mind that ranks 9-14 are separated by only a few points, so there’s not much difference between 9th place and 14th place.

11. Matthias I – B+ (85.5% - 435) – High Basic Attribute (Leadership, Attack, Defense, & Politics) scores, very strong secondary Siege Damage Buffs, and Ranged Damage Buffs combine to make him a strong PvP option.

  1. Specialist Against: Opponents that are heavy on Mounted Troops.

  2. Strongest Buffs (at 4-Yellow Specialties Level):

  3. Ranged Attack Increase: +50% (+75% w/ Skill Book)

  4. Siege Attack Increase: +70%

  5. Ranged Range Increase: +0% (+100 w/ Skill Book)

  6. Siege Range Increase: +0% (+200 w/ Skill Book)

  7. March Size Increase: +5%

  8. Siege HP Increase: +20%

  9. Siege Defense Increase: +10%

  10. Dragon: Not required

  11. Acquisition: Relatively EASY (at Tavern Level 27 and above), available in the Tavern as of 07-15-2022, he's probably the 3rd best option in the Tavern. He’s also 1 of the 8 army generals available in the Europe Epic Historic General Chest at level 50 in the Dawn of Civilization Event ($20 for easy mode, or $5 if you work hard at it and complete every task or spend gems for the last few levels).

  12. Culture: Europe

  13. Introduced: October, 2020

  14. Recommended Specialty Level: Probably none, he’s probably not worth investing Runestones unless he’s your top Siege PvP General.

NOTE: Keep in mind that ranks 9-14 are separated by only a few points, so there’s not much difference between 9th place and 14th place.

12. Henry V – B+ (84.1% - 428) – Strong secondary Siege Damage Buffs and strong Ranged Damage Buffs make him a strong Ranged PvP option. He is NOT able to use the Ranged Attack Increase Skill Book, so that hurts his score.

  1. Specialist Against: Opponents that are heavy on Mounted Troops.

  2. Strongest Buffs (at 4-Yellow Specialties Level):

  3. Ranged Attack Increase: +70% (+76% w/ All Troop Attack Increase)

  4. Siege Attack Increase: +30% (+36% w/ All Troop Attack Increase)

  5. All Troop Attack Increase: +6%

  6. Ranged Range Increase: +0% (+100 w/ Skill Book)

  7. March Size Increase: +0% (+12% w/ Skill Book)

  8. Ranged HP Increase: +10% (+35% w/ Skill Book)

  9. Ranged Defense Increase: +10%

13. Minamoto no Yoshitsune – B+ (84.1% - 428) – Based on Ranged Damage Buffs only, he would be #1, but he can’t use the Ranged Attack Bonus Skill Book, so the top 3 Ranged Generals tie or surpass his total Ranged Attack Increase. Previously needed a PASTURE dragon to max out buffs, but with the K40 expansion (v4.0) released on 11-04-2021 he now can use ANY dragon.

  1. Specialist Against: Opponents that are heavy on Mounted Troops.

  2. Strongest Buffs (at 4-Yellow Specialties Level):

  3. Ranged Attack Increase: +116%

  4. Siege Attack Increase: +10%

  5. Ranged Range Increase: +0% (+100 w/ Skill Book)

  6. March Size Increase: +0% (+12% w/ Skill Book)

  7. Ranged HP Increase: +20% (+45% w/ Skill Book)

  8. Ranged Defense Increase: +10%

  9. Dragon: ANY Dragon

  10. Acquisition: Relatively EASY (at Tavern Level 27 and above), available in the Tavern as of 01-27-2022, he's probably the 4th best option in the Tavern.

  11. Culture: Japan

  12. Introduced: Unknown (before January, 2018)

  13. Recommended Specialty Level: None, he’s not worth investing Runestones because there are vastly superior choices available in the Tavern and as Relic Chamber Rewards.

14. Gwanggaeto the Great – B+ (83.7% - 426) – Strong secondary Siege Damage Buffs and strong Ranged Damage Buffs combine to make him a strong Ranged PvP option. He also makes an excellent assistant general. He also makes a very strong Assistant General.

  1. Specialist Against: Opponents that are heavy on Mounted Troops.

  2. Strongest Buffs (at 4-Yellow Specialties Level):

  3. Ranged Attack Increase: +66% (+91% w/ Skill Book)

  4. Siege Attack Increase: +46%

  5. Ranged Range Increase: +0% (+100 w/ Skill Book)

  6. Siege Range Increase: +0% (+200 w/ Skill Book)

  7. March Size Increase: +6%

  8. Ranged HP Increase: +10%

  9. Ranged Defense Increase: +30%

  10. Siege Defense Increase: +10%

  11. Dragon: Not required

  12. Acquisition: Relatively EASY (at Tavern Level 27 and above), available in the Tavern as of 01-27-2022, he's probably the 5th best option in the Tavern. Also, still available in the Great General’s Chest (GGC) activity.

  13. Culture: Korea

  14. Introduced: February, 2019

  15. Recommended Specialty Level: None, he’s probably not worth investing Runestones because there are superior choices available in the Tavern and as Relic Chamber Rewards.

NOTE: Keep in mind that ranks 9-14 are separated by only a few points, so there’s not much difference between 9th place and 14th place.

15. Harold III – B (82.5% - 420) – Solid Ranged Damage Buffs and some Ranged Toughness Buffs combine to make him a solid Ranged PvP option.

  2. Strongest Buffs (at 4-Yellow Specialties Level):

  3. Ranged Attack Increase: +60% (+85% w/ Skill Book)

  4. Ranged Range Increase: +0% (+100 w/ Skill Book)

  5. March Size Increase: +0% (+12% w/ Skill Book)

  6. Ranged Defense Increase: +20%

  7. Ranged HP Increase: +10%

16. Elizabeth I – B (79.6% - 405) – High Basic Attribute (Leadership, Attack, Defense, & Politics) scores, a secondary Siege Attack Buff, and good Ranged Attack Buffs make her a reasonable Ranged PvP option.

  1. Specialist Against: Opponents that are heavy on Mounted Troops.

  2. Strongest Buffs (at 4-Yellow Specialties Level):

  3. Ranged Attack Increase: +55% (+80% w/ Skill Book)

Dragon for Ranged PvP:

In my opinion, and whenever possible, dragons should be placed on PvP Generals (mostly because I hate moving dragons). VERY few players have five (5) dragons, so the dragons should assigned per the following:

  1. Ranged PvP - Celtic Demon (1st Dragon - Red) or upgrade to Ladon (6th Dragon - Turquoise)

  2. Mounted PvP - Fafnir (2nd Dragon - Purple) or upgrade to Nidhogg (5th Dragon - Dark Blue)

  3. In-City Defense (Main Wall) - Dragon of Thebes (4th Dragon - Gold)

  4. Ground PvP - Norway Ridge (3rd Dragon - Light Blue) or upgrade to Amaterasu (7th Dragon - White)

  5. Siege PvP - Fafnir (2nd Dragon - Purple) or upgrade to Colchian (8th Dragon - Green)

  6. Mounted PvM for Pushing - Fafnir (2nd Dragon - Purple)

  7. Subordinate City Battle (PvP) - Norway Ridge (3rd Dragon - Light Blue)

Typically, the Celtic Demon (red) Dragon is assigned to the Ranged PvP General because it provides extra Ranged Attack Bonuses.

However, the Celtic Demon can be replaced by Ladon, if the 2nd round of All-Star Battlefield can be reached. But typically that requires being a VERY HEAVY spender, typically spending enough to buy five (5) packages per day (or about US $185/day or about US $5,000-$6,000/month).

Please let me know if I missed any good Ranged PvP Army Generals, or if you have an unlisted general you would like run through the algorithm to get a grade/score.

If you have any comments, requests, or questions, please let me know in the comments section below. Also, directing my attention to any mistakes is especially appreciated.

Thanks,

DD
